Where's My Head At....

It is in Cornwall. And it is hard to find the right clothes for a beach life so I revamped my black vintage jumpsuit into a playsuit by chopping of the legs. Then my daughter took this photo and chopped off my head....not literally of course!

The Tunnel Club

It seems I have a fascination for taking photographs with elements of tunnels within them! Here are some below....

Feel The Breeze

Summer is here and the city of London just turned into an oven! Time to escape to Cornwall to feel the breeze and swim in the ice cold sea. There will be sun of course as I have vintage Pierre Cardin sunglasses to wear.

Pierre Cardin vintage sunglasses belong to Ben....not me!

It's A Good Bad Habit - My 2nd Song Of The Summer

Click on the link below to hear my second song of this summer...The wonderful lush remix by Alex Metric of the Foals track Bad Habit. It is brilliant. I saw them play at the Barrowlands in Glasgow this February, such an amazing venue to see bands in. In the 1980's and 90's I saw many bands there and it thankfully hasn't changed at all. The building is in a part of Glasgow that remains true to it's roots, the interior is scruffy, the floor sticky with beer and the atmosphere is one of pure excitement - it's perfect.

Mazzy's Mix - 1st Song Of The Summer

This is my first song of the summer. Have a listen. I have the original of Mazzy Star and Fade Into You - it is one of my favourite songs. I wonder how this collaboration happened, as I would never have imagined it would have worked as sometimes when a song is so special to hear it remixed can be a disaster. This works for me!

Glasgow's Miles Better

I was in Glasgow over the last few days, the city where I was brought up and like everything in my life it has a vintage element to it as the reason for my visit was to look after my vintage mum!

Glasgow has changed from when I grew up and I came across the images from the hugely successful 'Glasgow's Miles Better' Campaign launched in 1983 and was one of the best promotions ever mounted by a British city. The campaign aimed at correcting the outdated ideas that many people in Scotland, the UK and abroad had of the city. The low budget campaign featured Roger Hargreaves' smiley 'Mr Happy' character telling visitors that Glasgow's Miles Better.

I saw this Rolls Royce shown below parked in a driveway near my childhood home. A very different image from the 1980's now that most people have become homeowners and take pride in their homes, gardens and cars. Miles better!

Summer In Our City

This is my favourite location for a vintage market - The Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California which I visited earlier this year for a wonderful week of escaping the cold. It seems to rain very seldom in LA and this is the view as you walk around the flea market. It is fantastic. Vintage shopping in the sun. Just like my market on Saturday....hot and sunny! In fact the weather we have now in London is hotter than Los Angeles. Wishing for it to continue as I head off to Cornwall this weekend. Glasgow first though - so don't expect too many 'hot and sunny' postings.

Burberry's Coming to Town

This classic vintage Burberry trenchcoat will be at the Pop-Up sale ..... another beautiful piece of design to take home and treasure.

What A Beauty!

I discovered gold yesterday in the shape of this 1980's Gucci handbag. It will be for sale at the Zeitgeist Pop-Up on the 13th July. Come and pay it a visit...Until then here is a little Gucci background: Founded by Italian designer Guccio Gucci in 1921, Gucci is now one of the most identifiable names in the fashion industry. Vintage Gucci items remain attractive to consumers, but they often have a high price tag. The Accessory Collection which is the label inside my beautiful bag was produced by Gucci in the 1980's and was a popular line of bags now considered to be vintage.

Tennis Tee

It must be summer as Wimbledon has started. Phil is the proud owner of this brilliant vintage T-shirt - appropriate colour, great graphics and brilliant words. It's just a shame I really cannot play tennis very well, even after lessons I haven't improved much so perhaps the t-shirt speaks the truth - it is only for posh kids!

NEWS FLASH! Zeitgeist Market Pop-Up.....Saturday 13th June.

Here is a photo of the small but very beautiful venue for the first and exclusive mini pop-up in The Ramblin Rose, next door to the Harringay Arms, 153 Crouch Hill, London N8. It will be a small and unique event in the heart and soul of bustling Crouch End from 12-6pm.
So pop-in to my pop-up!
