Vintage Van
The Zeitgeist vintage collection is still without a home.....for the time being the search for a premises to host the Zeitgeist Boutique continues. There are though lots of new and exciting possibilities and so it is only a matter of time. On my travels I did come across this vintage van and pondered over the idea of a travelling shop!.....

My Lovely Lopapeysa
The winter of 2013 is around the corner and as essential vintage item is a traditional Icelandic jumper. Lopapeysa or Icelandic jumper is an Icelandic style of jumper originating around or before the 1950's. It is believed that the jumpers are patterned on Greenlandic women's costume. The yarn used, lopi, is made from the wool of Icelandic sheep and contains both wind hairs and fleece. Wear one of these jumpers this winter and you will be forever warm!

William Burrell And His Collection
This week I headed up the M1 and beyond to where I was brought up....in Glasgow. During my stay I always visit the Burrell Collection which as a building was awarded A-listed status by Historic Scotland in February 2013 in recognition of its position as one of the country’s finest examples of 1970s architectural design. This building houses just a small part of the eclectic collection which was acquired over many years by Sir William Burrell, a wealthy Glaswegian shipping magnate and art collector, who then gave it to the city of Glasgow Corporation in 1944. The trustees spent over 20 years trying to find a suitable 'home' for the collection, one which met all the criteria set out in the Trust Deed, without success. Eventually, when the Pollok Estate was gifted to the city in 1967, the Trustees had certain terms of the deed waived, which allowed the current site to be used. A design competition for the museum building in 1971 was won by the architect Barry Gasson. The museum was opened in 1983, and was named as Scotland's second greatest post-war building after Gillespie, Kidd & Coia's St Peter's Seminary. I had a fantastic adventure visiting this now sadly derelict Seminary in Cardross last year with Ben. It is a tricky place to find but once you do it is definitely worth it.

My Deer Bambi.....
What have Givenchy done to you Bambi for this seasons "must have"?!
The house of Givenchy was founded in 1952 by the designer Hubert de Givenchy and he was known for creating modern and ladylike fashion styles. Since Hubert retired John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Julian McDonald have all been integral forces behind the Givenchy name and look. Now in charge since 2005 is Riccardo Tisci. Tisci has created this Bambi mania and thus has made the most confusing and strange image on this now sell-out sweatshirt of the season and added a relatively cheap Givenchy price tag of £750 considering most of their garments cost anything up to £5000. It has made it apparently more possible for fashionistas to own Givenchy for a lesser price but I am doubtful this is akin with Givenchy's style and sophistication. And in memory of the cute and charming little Prince......
I won't be adding my name to the Givenchy sweatshirt waiting list.

Too Cool For School
Today was Sunday and I went back to school.....to attend the inspirational Midcentury Modern interiors show called MIDCENTURY EAST which was held in the fantastic location of Haggerston School, Hackney, London and the only secondary school to be designed by Erno Goldfinger. The school has recently been refurbished by Fiona Lamb of Avanti Architects and it was stunning to be viewing the abundance of cool Danish vintage sofas, German ceramics and 1960's rosewood furniture in these surroundings. It would have been perfectly possible to spend thousands of pounds there today had my bank manager allowed it!
I fell in love with this striking and very stylish Panton rocking chair.....
.......Verner Panton (13 February 1926 – 5 September 1998) is considered one of Denmark's most influential 20th-century furniture and interior designers and his rocking chair is now on my Wish List!

Summer Has Flown Away......
It seems summer is over and this is the last photo I took while the warmth was still in the air. Hello to Lucy as she smiled for me wearing her vintage dress looking like she was still in Crete instead of London NW6. Now it is time to wrap up and watch my blog for wonderful ways to do this the vintage way this winter. Think of cashmere, fur, leather and sparkle. Then we can welcome winter with warm arms!

Burberry Beauties
This weekends pop-up vintage market will feature amongst other delights my collection of vintage Burberry Macs for the ladies and gents of London. The Burberry trench is a design classic and picked up its name because it was standard issue for the service-men heading for the trenches during the First World War. This stylish item was invented by Basingstoke draper's assistant Thomas Burberry, who created a waterproof fabric called gabardine for local farm workers. The trench then followed and endless varieties have been made - including the single-breasted version worn by Michael Caine in Alfie. My favourite and the one I am still seeking in my size is the double-breasted version designed for the British Forces. In the 1920's the distinctive "novacheck" lining was added and needless to say has been much copied. However the Burberry trench is the best! Classic, understated and chic.......
All items will feature at this weekends vintage pop-up.
It's Good To Share

Vintage Vogue
I worked in New York for a design studio in the summer of 1990 and I have kept this Vogue Italia as a memory of my time there. Not being fluent in Italian I could never read the magazine but instead I always loved the photographs. Shown above is Cindy Crawford who at the time was in a relationship with Richard Gere. Also featured are Madonna, David Bowie, Naomi Campbell and some brilliant fashion. Watch my blog for more featured pages!
